BulkBuddy privacy policy
Applies to the BulkBuddy: Receipt Splitter app for iPhone, iPad and Android, published by Royal Nation LLC ("we", "us"). Last updated 15 October 2026.
What we collect and why
Your account
Your email address and a password (stored hashed), used to sign you in and keep your data across devices. You can also use manual receipt splitting without an account.
What you add to the app
Receipts and their items, prices, store names and dates; the people, groups and contacts you create; how items are split; payments and settlements you record; budgets and preferences; and your profile photo if you add one. We store this so the app can show your splits and balances. We use it only to run the app for you.
Receipt photos
When you scan a receipt, the photo is read on your phone first. If your phone cannot read it, the image is sent through our server to Google Cloud Vision to recognise the text, and the text comes back to the app. We do not keep the receipt photo on our servers.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives your purchase and subscription status, linked to your account, so we can unlock Premium and handle refunds and expirations. We keep a log of purchase events (product, price, country, dates) for support and fraud prevention.
Usage and diagnostics
We record in-app events such as sessions, screens and feature use, and counts like how many people were in a split (never the amounts), tied to your account when you are signed in. Firebase Analytics (Google) measures app use and gives us approximate location derived from your IP address. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports and device/OS information so we can fix problems. We do not use the advertising identifier and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Notifications (optional)
Push notifications are off until you turn them on in Settings. If you do, OneSignal receives a push token and device details (such as model, OS, language, country, app version and notification interactions) to deliver them. You can turn them off at any time.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your precise location, microphone audio, your phone's address book, or your advertising identifier.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We use service providers who process it on our behalf: Convex (hosting and database), Google (Cloud Vision for text recognition when needed, Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics), RevenueCat (subscriptions), OneSignal (notifications, only if you opt in) and Apple or Google (app stores and payments). We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account data until you delete your account. You can delete it yourself in the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by email; see how to delete your account. Data held by Firebase, Crashlytics and OneSignal is not tied to your account and is kept by those providers under their own retention settings.
Your choices and rights
You can access and correct your data in the app, turn notifications off in Settings, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including access, correction, deletion and objection. Email us and we will help.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit access and use reputable providers.
Children
BulkBuddy is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
